Amazon FBM Fees in the UK (2026) — Referral & Self-Ship Profit
Understand Amazon FBM referral fees and how UK sellers estimate net profit when shipping themselves — plus a free FBM calculator in GBP.
FBM in the UK: referral only from Amazon
Fulfillment by Merchant on Amazon.co.uk means you store, pack, and ship — but Amazon still charges a category referral fee on the item price, typically around 15% for many consumer categories. There is no FBA fulfilment fee and no monthly FBA storage on those units.
Your real costs are Royal Mail, Evri, DPD, or courier labels plus packaging and your time. The FBM UK calculator models Amazon’s referral in GBP; you enter outbound postage in shipping cost paid.
Referral fees by category
Referral percentages vary by product type — electronics, home, apparel, and grocery each have rate cards. Amazon publishes UK referral tables; minimum fees can apply on very low item prices.
Pick the closest category in our calculator before you list oversized inventory that will never fit economically into FBA size tiers.
When FBM beats FBA in the UK
FBM often wins on heavy, bulky, fragile, or slow-moving SKUs where FBA fulfilment and storage would dominate. Small, fast sellers with Prime-sensitive demand usually net more on FBA.
Run the same item price and COGS through both FBA and FBM UK calculators. Add your real label cost on FBM. The higher net tells you which channel fits.
Prime badge and Seller Fulfilled Prime
Standard FBM listings do not get the Prime badge. Seller Fulfilled Prime exists but demands strict performance metrics — most UK sellers choose FBA for Prime eligibility instead.
If Prime is not critical for your niche, FBM can still win on margin when your shipping ops are efficient.
Costs FBM sellers forget
Returns postage, replacement packaging, PPC ads, and your labour are not in Amazon’s referral line item. Add ad spend per sale if you run Sponsored Products.
VAT-registered sellers should track how fees interact with VAT reporting — this tool shows platform fees only.
Worked example: £27.99 home accessory
You source for £7, sell at £27.99 FBM. Referral at 15% removes about £4.20. You pay £3.40 for a large-letter tracked service and 40p packaging. Before income tax, net might land near high teens — acceptable if returns stay low.
Enter £27.99, £7 COGS, and £3.80 shipping paid in the calculator below. Compare with FBA on the same SKU before you send inventory to a fulfilment centre.
