Amazon FBA Fees in the UK (2026) — Referral, Fulfilment & Storage
Understand Amazon FBA referral fees, fulfilment charges, and how UK sellers estimate true net profit per SKU — plus a free FBA calculator in GBP.
Two fees on every FBA sale — referral and fulfilment
Amazon FBA in the United Kingdom combines marketplace commission with logistics. On each sale, Amazon typically deducts a referral fee — a category-based percentage of your item price — and an FBA fulfilment fee for picking, packing, shipping to the customer, and customer service. Monthly storage bills accrue for inventory in UK fulfilment centres, with higher Q4 rates and surcharges on aged stock.
New sellers often compare referral percentages alone and ignore fulfilment, which can exceed referral on small, low-price SKUs. The FBA UK calculator on FeeAndProfit separates both charges so you see which erodes margin in pounds.
Referral fees by product category
Referral fees in 2026 vary by category: many consumer products cluster between 8% and 15%, while apparel, accessories, and specialty verticals can differ. Amazon publishes UK rate cards; minimum referral charges may apply on very low item prices.
Category accuracy matters. Misclassified ASINs get repriced when Amazon reclassifies. Select the closest category in our calculator to stress-test price before you send inventory to an FC.
FBA fulfilment: size tiers and weight
Fulfilment fees depend on product size tier (small standard, large standard, small oversize, etc.) and shipping weight. A pocketable SKU under 500 g behaves very differently from a kitchen appliance. Amazon’s UK tables update periodically — especially ahead of peak season.
If you do not know your exact tier, start with a conservative large-standard assumption for anything not clearly letter-sized. Better to overestimate fulfilment in planning than lose £3 per unit at launch.
Storage and inventory risk
Monthly inventory storage fees accrue per cubic foot in UK FCs, with higher rates in Q4. Inventory aged 271+ days can trigger aged inventory surcharges. These are not always visible in per-order fee preview — they hit on separate statements — but they belong in true SKU economics.
Our per-order calculator does not project storage months ahead; treat storage as a carrying cost when deciding inbound quantity. Slow, bulky SKUs are often better FBM candidates even when referral is identical.
FBA vs FBM on the same ASIN
Fulfillment by Merchant avoids FBA fulfilment and FC storage but still pays referral on most categories. You control shipping — often better for oversized or fragile items if your carrier rates beat Amazon’s. Prime badge eligibility requires FBA or Seller Fulfilled Prime.
Run the same item price and COGS through both FBA and FBM UK calculators. Add your real Royal Mail or courier cost on FBM. The higher net tells you which channel fits that SKU.
Worked example: £21.99 kitchen gadget
Imagine a gadget you source at £5, sell at £21.99, small standard FBA. Referral at 15% removes roughly £3.30; fulfilment might take another £3.00–£4.00 depending on tier. Before COGS you are already near £6–£7 off the top. After product cost and inbound shipping to the FC, net might land in low single-digit pounds.
Enter £21.99, your COGS, and category in the calculator below. Tweak price until margin hits your target. If a £2 increase moves you from loss to profit, optimise packaging dimensions before you scale ads.
VAT and keeping estimates honest
VAT-registered UK sellers may charge VAT on sales and can often reclaim VAT on Amazon seller fees — this guide and calculator focus on platform take, not your VAT return. Confirm with an accountant how fees interact with your scheme.
